Enterprise Storage and Virtualization Supervisor

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL as the Section Supervisor for Storage and Virtualization (ISS-005) in the Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) Server Systems Group (ISS).

Supervise a highly skilled team of Information Technology professionals tasked to deliver and maintain secure, robust and scalable solutions that address critical business and operational requirements. In this role, you'll actively participate in the hiring process, mentor and guide staff growth, and ensure work assignments are consistent with staff development plans and project needs. You'll contribute as a member of the ISS Management Team and the ITSD Extended Management Team.
In addition, you'll make contributions to the group in the areas of Storage Management, File Services, Private Cloud, Server Virtualization, and/or VDI. You'll collaborate with Product Owners, Technology Managers, and technical teams to resolve customer problems and communicate pertinent information. Finally, you will have strategic and operational responsibility for the file services area, including user home directories, Enterprise Box tenant, and Enterprise Data Backup.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you .
- Have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of related professional work experience
- Have 3+ years prior supervisory experience mentoring IT technical professional staff and/or Project Leadership experience for a project of greater than 5 participants
- Have 5+ years of technical leadership experience, with strong organizational skills for driving operational initiatives, and emphasis on supporting a culture of positivity, open communication and engagement in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex problems using current job knowledge, research data, and external resources
- Strong written and oral presentation skills, which will be used to document analysis and present technical details to a diverse audience
- Previous success with conflict resolution and capable of making difficult decisions after acquiring adequate input
- Able to interface well with all levels of staff
- Are willing and able to occasionally work on Saturday morning and weekday evening hours to support maintenance activities
- Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
