Overview
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking an engineer to innovate, analyze, and help define multiple generations of AI acceleration and memory system solutions. This role focuses on advancing technical direction in the AI accelerator and memory industry and supporting Cloud AI and Data Center products.
You will engage with Cloud BU architects to understand product requirements, analyze accelerator and memory technologies, quantify tradeoffs, and influence technical direction with data-driven justification. You will communicate and collaborate with SoC & IP architects, designers, systems engineers, product managers, and software teams to enable market-leading Cloud AI and Data Center products.

- Collaborate with Cloud BU architects and cross-disciplinary teams to enable market-leading Cloud AI and Data Center products.
- Communicate effectively across a distributed multi-discipline organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- OR Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
- OR PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in one or more system architecture technology areas and products (eg, Power System, Shared Resource Management, Limits/Thermal Management, Hardware Islands).
Skills/Experience
- Computer architecture background and the quantitative analysis tools and methods.
- Analytical, behavioral, functional, and performance modeling and analysis.
- Simulator architectures and frameworks (C+ or Python-based preferred).
- Preferably experience in instruction set definition, extensions, and documentation.
- Background in memory systems and understanding tradeoffs among bandwidth, latency, power, etc.
- Understanding of DRAM memory organization and architecture, memory controllers & scheduling across protocols such as LPDDR, HBM, DDR, GDDR, etc.
- Experience with quantitative analysis using tools such as high-level calculators, spreadsheets, DRAM timing simulators, profilers, and simulators.
- Exposure to novel memory technologies such as processing-in-memory (PIM), processing-near-memory, 3DIC, etc.
- Ability to abstract problems and define data-driven solutions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills to convey proposals across a distributed organization.
- Self-driven execution with a focus on accuracy and rigorous methodology.
Qualifications
- MS or PhD degree in EE/ECE/CE/CS or related field required.
- 2+ years of experience in computer architecture, AI accelerators, memory architecture, memory technologies.
Additional Qualifications
- Generative AI & Machine Learning workloads, especially Large Language Model inference.
- Processor architecture, including ISA design & microarchitecture.
- Exposure to power, thermals, reliability, RAS, ECC, security, encryption, PHYs, packaging.
- Ability to work within budgetary objectives and anticipate resource needs.
- Ability to influence key organizational decisions and navigate ambiguous problems.
- Ability to handle non-defined tasks and multi-faceted problem-solving with potential for rework.
- Creativity to innovate new ideas and processes within unestablished objectives.
- Strong deductive and inductive problem solving with advanced data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Occasional participation in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
