Software Engineer - Contract - Hybrid/London - £565per day via Umbrella

2-3 days per week on site in London

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver new web services and Front End features for analytics and reporting, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Re-platform and migrate existing analytics components and datasets (including PostgreSQL), preserving data quality, lineage, and auditability.
  • Build React UIs that present complex analytics in a clear, accessible way; collaborate with UX and quants to iterate quickly.
  • Implement TypeScript/JavaScript tooling, unit and integration tests, and CI/CD automation for predictable releases.
  • Partner with stakeholders across markets technology, operations, and controls to meet regulatory and risk standards.

Required experience

  • Java (modern JVM) for Back End services, APIs, and integration tasks.
  • React with TypeScript/JavaScript for Front End development.
  • Relational databases (PostgreSQL): schema design, performance tuning, migrations, and SQL proficiency.
  • Production-grade engineering practices: testing (unit/integration), code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in a fast-moving, regulated environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in investment banking/markets analytics or risk/valuation tooling.
  • Data migration frameworks, ETL pipelines, and data quality/lineage practices.
  • Secure web development (authN/authZ, secrets management, audit logging).
